We apply well-known scientific concepts in a new way with the goal of positively influencing the overall condition (well-being) of individuals. Our devices enable treatments at home and help reduce pain, accelerate recovery and improve health. Applications are possible in various fields of medicine: wound healing and disinfection (wounds resulting from diabetes), reduction of inflammatory processes and pain, rehabilitation (acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders).
Although the European Union (EU) has had clearly defined programs focused on the healthcare sector since 2003, which are adapted to the Union’s needs, Europe today faces serious health challenges. Because of this, there is an increasing emphasis on the need to encourage research and innovation in healthcare among European countries. Moreover, population aging, the rise in chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, arthritis and various other diagnoses accompanied by chronic pain or ailments that vary from patient to patient have prompted even deeper consideration of synergistic approaches to treatment, as well as the need for innovation within the healthcare sector itself. Especially given that Europe’s current health challenges are driving costs to potentially unsustainable levels, bringing the risk of unequal access to healthcare for citizens across the EU. External factors such as the environment, climate change and the growing resistance of microorganisms to antibiotics—or even resistance and dependency related to opioid painkillers—do not help healthcare systems, nor do they provide solutions for patients. For instance, as early as 2017, the EU became acquainted with studies on antibiotic resistance, i.e. antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and even then adopted a set of action plans addressing this issue. Those studies clearly show that healthcare costs due to AMR within the EU have increased by €1.5 billion annually. Because of such challenges, the EU continuously increases healthcare funding and support through its programs and funds, while also changing concepts by introducing support for innovations in the healthcare sector, aiming to find new systems capable of addressing these challenges. The current EU for Health program, in effect from 2021 to 2027, places particular emphasis on the Horizon Europe program, which focuses on discovering new ways to preserve human health, prevent diseases, develop better diagnostics and more effective therapies, use personalized medicine to improve healthcare and well-being and adopt innovative health technologies, including digital ones. Horizon Europe allocates €95.5 billion for these purposes, confirming the fact that the healthcare system needs an innovative ally.
This very idea – the idea of proactive, higher-quality and more accessible healthcare for all citizens on as natural a basis as possible – is the foundation of the Synergotron team’s work and the newly developed concept of a portable self-care device provisionally named OmniCare.
Today, when the synergy of science and nature for the purpose of preserving human health is more necessary than ever, we have developed a system adapted to the user, condition, or disease. It is a hybrid system of electromagnetic therapy and digital technologies, which uses the same hardware to control various biological effects. The Synergotron hybrid cold plasma system is a new, non-invasive and effective hybrid therapeutic system that enables the simultaneous and synergistic application of cold plasma, light, electromagnetic fields, microcurrents, microvibrations and sound waves—or collectively, quanta (packages) of energy.

All these factors operate simultaneously, in synergy, within our device. This technology, which we have dedicatedly developed for over a decade, responds to the challenges of today and to the needs arising from modern living. The Synergotron system is adaptable and tailored to the specific needs of each patient, illness, or condition. The system enables the elimination of microorganisms, stimulates healing and reduces pain, giving the body a chance for faster recovery. We are particularly proud that our system is “green”, meaning completely safe for our environment and nature.

Team members
The Synergotron team was founded by Domagoj Prebeg, DMD, PhD, researcher and head of development, whose research interests include bioelectromagnetism, biophotonics, and plasma physics, as well as connecting traditional medicine with advanced biotechnologies. He graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb, in 2004. Since 2005, he has actively researched and developed devices based on cold plasma and began his doctoral research in 2010, completing it in 2016 with a cum laude doctorate on the topic “Determining the physicochemical characteristics of the therapeutic field of a high-frequency ozone generator.” The research was conducted on a medical device he and his team developed in 2008. In 2017, he founded Synergotron d.o.o. for research and development, which filed a patent for a method and technical solutions for applying a hybrid cold plasma system for therapeutic purposes. From 2019 to 2021, he also worked as a researcher at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb.
The technical part of the Synergotron team also includes:
- Emil Barić, PhD,mag. ing. mech.
- Milan Kordić, mag. ing. el. tech.
- Davor Cihlar, MSEE – Software engineering
- Ognjen Pavićević, dipl. ing.
Scientific advisors to the team are two distinguished professors from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) at the University of Zagreb:
- Prof.Igor Krois, PhD
- Prof. Mario Cifrek, PhD

Motivation for application and vision for the end of the Nuqleus program
With its hybrid cold plasma system, the Synergotron team is engaged in proactive health preservation and the prevention of health problems and diseases. We applied to the Nuqleus program because we want to take an additional step forward, bringing our product to end users as soon as possible. We are a small team and need a variety of knowledge and skills, especially regarding market entry and marketing, which will help us reach new sources of funding and accelerate production and development of new devices. We want Synergotron technology to reach end users more easily and quickly, thereby assisting in patient recovery and relieving the burden on the healthcare system. We believe that through their synergy, Synergotron and Nuqleus can ignite the future today.
